Custom machines designed for your product
Standard machines suit standard products. When your product is fragile, sticky, irregular, hygienic or simply unusual, the machine needs to be designed for it. That is what we have done since 1981, for food and pharmaceutical manufacturers in Australia and overseas.
We start with the problem you want to solve, then design the most practical way to solve it, whether that is a single bespoke machine, a modification to an existing one, or a complete line.
Engineering under one roof
- Mechanical design. Frames, product handling, tooling, guarding and hygienic design, modelled in 3D with SolidWorks.
- Electrical design. Control cabinets, wiring, safety circuits and drives, designed and built in house.
- Controls and software. Machine control programs, operator screens and recipes, written by the engineers who commission the machine.
- Robotics and cobots. Selection and integration of industrial robots and cobots, including grippers and tooling.
Because design, manufacture and commissioning are done by the same team, questions are answered quickly and nothing is lost between departments.
Designed in 3D, reviewed with you
We model the complete machine in 3D before manufacturing begins. You can review the design, check how it fits your line and space, and see how operators will use, clean and maintain it. Motion and interference are checked in the model, so problems are solved before metal is cut.
Designed for food and pharmaceutical production
- Stainless steel and food-grade materials where product is exposed
- Hygienic design for washdown and cleaning, with access in mind
- Fast, repeatable changeovers between products and pack sizes
- Guarding and safety systems designed in from the start
- Documentation, drawings and manuals for your maintenance team
Common questions
What does custom machine design cost?
It depends on the complexity of the product and the machine. A project study gives you a clear scope and budget before detailed design starts.
Can you modify or upgrade an existing machine?
Yes. We regularly add automation, improve speed or reliability, adapt machines to new products, and update controls on existing equipment, including machines we did not build.
Do you design and build, or design only?
We usually design and build. Manufacturing, assembly, wiring and testing all happen in our Berwick workshop, so we can stand behind the whole machine.
Can you test my product before the design is finished?
Yes. Product trials in our workshop are often part of the design process, especially for difficult or delicate products.
From design to production
Once the design is approved, we build and test the machine in our workshop, then handle installation and commissioning on your site. To discuss a machine, contact us.
